Apple is pushing Apple Watch owners to get healthier with a new “Close Your Rings” webpage.
It teaches you why it’s important to take advantage of the activity and fitness tracking features on your Watch. “It’s such a simple and fun way to live a healthier day,” Apple says.
Some say Apple Watch is just like every other smartwatch, and that it doesn’t do anything particularly special. That’s not true if you’re serious about getting fit and healthy. No other wearable motivates you to move like Apple Watch.
Close Your Rings
To showcase this, Apple has published a new “Close Your Rings” webpage. It explains the Activity app on Apple Watch, and why it’s important to fill its move, exercise, and stand rings. There’s just “one goal,” Apple says: “Close them every day.”
Apple lays out what each ring is for and how you can fill it. It explains how you can change your move goal, use your favorite apps to track exercise, and make the most of your stand periods. Apple also highlights why exercise is important, and why sitting all day is bad for you.
“30 minutes of brisk activity every daycan help minimize the chance of stroke, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and weight gain,” Apple says. “Prolonged sitting can contribute to development of type 2 diabetes.”
To get your started and keep you going, Apple Watch delivers monthly challenges, offers achievements, and lets you track your history and share progress with friends.
The webpage certainly explains the benefits of the Activity app, and encourages you to make the most of Apple Watch’s health abilities. It makes it seem like you’d be crazy to spend hundreds of dollars on an Apple Watch and ignore some of its best and most beneficial features.
